Authorities declared Friday that this year’s All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day was “generally peaceful” at Manila North Cemetery despite cases of missing children and confiscation of sachets marijuana from a teenaged visitor.
Supt. Julius Caesar Domingo, Manila North Cemetery ground commander, said they have not recorded any crime incident since November 1.
“Generally peaceful naman. Walang reported na crime incident except there was one na kabataan na nag-try ipasok ‘yung marijuana sachets,” Domingo said.
On Thursday, police arrested a 17-year-old male as he tried to smuggle sachets of marijuana inside the cemetery and received reports about 10 children who went missing.
Data from Manila North Cemetery’s administration office showed that the youngest child who went missing was a two-year-old who was nevertheless immediately claimed by relatives.
“Through the effort ng lahat ng volunteers, ‘yung mga government agencies natin, nagtulong-tulong tayo para ma-ensure ‘yung security and ‘yung safety ng kababayan natin na pumunta dito,” Domingo said. /kga
